The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between marital communication and the use of digital media, particularly those used for instant messaging, such as the WhatsApp application. The sample consisted of 123 subjects, who answered an online sociodemographic questionnaire, a questionnaire to evaluate the use of digital media, the Revised Scale of Conjugal Adjustment (RDAS-P), and the Questionnaire of Conjugal Communication. The results showed that the vast majority (93.5%) of the participants use WhatsApp to communicate daily with their (62%). There was also a strong correlation between levels of marital adjustment and good marital communication. These results point out that the use of the media seems to facilitate the couple’s communication in relation to daily affairs, not interfering in the communication of more intimate subjects that seem to be preserved by the couples through face-to-face conversations.
