Conflict mediation as an aid in the treatment of serious psychiatric disorders

This article demonstrates that, through a therapeutic project based on the constructivist epistemology, the joint work of the psychiatrist and psychotherapist, combined with the support of conflict mediation, is fundamental for a better understanding of how the patient’s reality was constructed, his family ties and difficulties in relationship. The professionals’ work with the patient is successful when interdisciplinary boundaries are blurred, starting to work based on the patient’s individual needs according to each moment experienced during treatment.
