About the Journal
The Revista Brasileira de Terapia Familiar (RBTF) is an annual publication of the Associação Brasileira de Terapia Familiar (ABRATEF). Its scope, in the area of Human Sciences, focuses on the sub-area of Psychology, in the specialty of Interpersonal Relations. Manuscripts can be submitted in Portuguese, English or Spanish. RBTF does not charge submission or processing fees.
Since the first number, in 2008, the journal publishes articles that reflect the broad spectrum of researchers' current concerns and the most significant debates on issues involving interpersonal relationships, aiming to develop, disseminate and strengthen Family Therapy, nationally and internationally, bringing together professionals from this and other biopsychosocial areas, which work in different contexts, with family practices in different approaches, aiming at technical-scientific improvement, contributing to expanding knowledge in this area.
RBTF is committed to the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in its practices aimed at expanding knowledge and improving the human condition. RBTF seeks to address systemic inequities and biases, promote equitable opportunities for authors, and foster an inclusive environment representing the broad range of people that the IR community consists of and serves.
Section editors are guided and motivated to: (1) Improve diversity in the choice of reviewers; (2) Encourage authors to adopt more inclusive citation practices in their decisions; and (3) Promote inclusive language.
The editor-in-chief, attentive to increasing diversity and recognizing the barriers that minority authors, editors and reviewers face in publishing, always seeks to: (1) Avoid discrepancies in the acceptance of articles, focusing on increasing the diversity of authors, reviewers and editors ; (2) Mitigate both the risk and impact of biases in decision-making during the review; (3) Identify alternative processes to mitigate bias; and (4) Adopt standards for inclusive culture.
Its editorial policy is guided by double anonymized peer review, ensuring the anonymity of authors and evaluators during the evaluation process. However, the RBTF will progressively offer reviewers and corresponding authors the opening of their identities seeking alignment with open science initiatives.
RBTF follows guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding ethical aspects and cases of misconduct and plagiarism in academic publications.
RBTF offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle of free and democratization of public access to scientific knowledge.
To maximize the dissemination and use of published material, RBTF adopts the Creative Commons Attribution CC BY 4.0 license. Thus, copyright will belong to the authors, with others being allowed to distribute, remix, adapt and create from their work, even for commercial purposes, as long as due credit is given.
RBTF uses the PKP PN system to create a file system distributed among participating libraries and allows them to create permanent journal archives for preservation and restoration by LOCKSS.
In the Qualis/CAPES system, RBTF is classified in the Interdisciplinary area as B5.
